This represents 1/14.4 Royal BAM Group nv share and a value of €0.1675, and is therefore almost 4.66 % more than the value of the cash dividend of €0.16 per ordinary share of Royal BAM Group nv.

BAM proposes Mrs T. Menssen MBA as Executive Board member

Following her appointment, Thessa Menssen will succeed Jan Ruis after a few months as Chief Financial Officer, who is retiring after forty years with the Group.

After obtaining a degree in mechanical engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology and a MBA at the University of Twente, Thessa Menssen (45), joined Unilever, where her positions included that of finance director of Unilever Nederland Home and Personal Care. In 2006 she moved to Port of Rotterdam Authority, where she was CFO until 2011.

Hemel Hempstead, 14 May 2012 - BAM Construct UK has secured the £10.25 million contract to regenerate Chiltern Hills Academy in Buckinghamshire, which is sponsored by the Oxford Diocese & Buckinghamshire County Council. The contractor will build a new wing for the Chesham academy and carry out significant refurbishment work on its existing estate.

The scheme will create an integrated building with a large, light-flooded atrium providing an open-plan learning resource centre as well as new kitchen and dining facilities.

The academy, which specialises in design and the performing arts, will have a capacity of 990 students aged 11 to 18. Pupils studying technology, art and digital design will be able to use modern facilities in the new wing, whilst a well-equipped sports hall will replace the existing gym.

BAM wins design contract for water supply project Northern Kenya

Bunnik, the Netherlands, 3 May 2012 – BAM International, the operating company of Royal BAM Group active outside Europe, has signed a service agreement with the Ministry of Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands for the design of the Wajir Habaswein Water Supply Project. The contract value is € 0.5 million. Half of the costs for this development phase are paid by the Facility for Infrastructure Development ORIO (Ontwikkelingsrelevante Infrastructuurontwikkeling), which is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage public infrastructure development in developing countries.

BAM International will undertake this study in cooperation with its Belgian sister company Balteau, advising on all mechanical and electrical works, Gauff Ingenieure for the design and environmental & social impact assessment, as well as Vitens Evides International for capacity building and training. Experts in the field of wind energy will investigate possibilities to use windmills as a source of energy for the pumps.

As announced, the transaction results in a profit contribution of approximately €65 million in 2012. The proceeds will be used to reduce Group net debt.

Harborne Academy’s new building: BAM selected

The new building will be built in front of the current building allowing the Academy to continue to operate.

The plan for the new build will provide learning spaces which are flexible and personalised and this investment is a further demonstration of Birmingham Metropolitan College’s commitment to transforming the educational experiences for pupils attending the Academy. Aston University development awarded leading UK score for its approach to construction

Hemel Hempstead, 20 April 2012 - Birds of prey, five-a-side football and local fundraising have helped the firm behind new student accommodation for Aston University win national recognition. Midlands-based BAM Construction received an ‘exceptional’ score from industry improvement body the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) for work on Aston Student Village Phase Two.

The firm scored 37 out of 40, placing it well within the top three per cent of schemes in the whole country. BAM scored at least 4.5 out of 5 in every category, including environment, appearance, respect, safety and being a good neighbour. The CCS inspectors highlighted the company’s waste management efforts, which have seen 95 percent of waste currently diverted from landfill. Awareness of wildlife was also complimented, with a kestral nesting in an adjacent building.

Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau wins joint venture tunnel contract in Germany

The tunnel is part of rail project Stuttgart 21. Deutsche Bahn has awarded the contract with a value of approximately €290 million to a joint venture of Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, Hochtief and Alpine. Construction of the tunnel of approximately 3.8 kilometers will be completed in 2018.

Construction milestone at Imperial Tobacco HQ signals big investment for Bristol

Bristol, 4 April 2012 - Imperial Tobacco Group’s Chief Executive Alison Cooper tightened the screw on a silver bolt in a rooftop ceremony to mark a significant milestone in the construction of the company’s new global headquarters in Winterstoke Road, Bristol. The bolt was secured in a specially craned-in steel beam as the new structure – being constructed by Bristol-based contractors BAM – approached its highest point of development.

The fourth level of the reinforced concrete frame of the 9,680 square metre building, which is on the site of a former cigar factory, is currently being constructed. The development is on schedule to be completed in early 2013.

Around 550 Imperial Tobacco jobs will be created or secured in Bristol as a result of the investment in the building.

BAM’s work on site involves some 2,500 workers over the project’s life, around 170 on site at peak. Seventy per cent of the construction workforce lives within 30 miles of the development.

First Xbloc application in France

Gouda, The Netherlands, 2 April 2012 - BAM Infraconsult bv, by its trade name Delta Marine Consultants, has signed a license agreement for the use of Xbloc on the new LNG Terminal in Dunkerque, France. The license agreement has been signed with a joint venture of Sodraco International SAS (subsidiary of Jan de Nul), Bouygues Travaux Publics Régions France, Colas Nord Picardie and Menard.

Within the Dunkerque project, 3,000 Xblocs of 6 m3 will be applied. The units will be produced on the project site and production is expected to start in April. Unit placement is expected to commence in the second half of 2012. The Dunkerque project is the fourth LNG terminal for which Xbloc is applied to provide protection against the waves.

Rotherham’s new Maltby Academy buildings to be constructed by BAM

BAM Construct UK has been awarded a £10.9 million contract to upgrade Maltby Academy in Rotherham. The contractor will deliver two new buildings as well as refreshing, remodelling and refurbishing other parts of the Yorkshire school’s estate.

Maltby Academy, which has space for 1,200 students aged 11-19, is currently a mixture of buildings from the 1930s, 1960s and the start of this century.
BAM will build a new business and enterprise centre, which will become the front of the reworked academy and a facility for the community as well as students.

The jetty will be constructed as part of the Ichthys LNG Project being developed in Darwin by INPEX (operator) and Total. The design consists of two separate vessel load-out berths, one for LNG carriers and a second for LPG/Condensate carriers. A Y-shaped approach jetty consisting of a 680-metres leg connecting to the LNG berth, and a second 630-metres leg, connecting to the LPG/Condensate berth, provide access from the onshore facility.

Unprecedented access to construction site gives London its first ‘construction art’ exhibition

The construction of Glasgow’s new Zaha Hadid-designed Riverside Transport Museum is the focus of Threadneedle-prize winning artist Patricia Cain’s first major solo London exhibition. Cain is well-known in Scotland for having given up a legal career to follow her art, and for painting Glasgow’s industrial regeneration – a topic close to the heart of many cities in the UK.

Her study of the striking Transport Museum took her to the banks of the Clyde where she sat and worked among the construction workers of the main building contractor, BAM Construction, making her an artist among artisans.

Hemel Hempstead / Shirley, 2 March 2012 - BAM Construction in the Midlands has been chosen to deliver a £33 million retail and residential regeneration building project in Shirley, West Midlands, on behalf of Shirley Advance, a joint venture between Helical Bar and Coltham Developments. BAM Midlands has its head offices in Coventry and has delivered hundreds of millions of pounds worth of new facilities across the Midlands.

As well as an 85,000 sq ft (7,897 sq m) ASDA superstore, BAM will also build 70,000 sq ft of additional retail space providing about 20 new retail units and a 500+ space underground car park. The development will also include 27 three bedroom townhouses and 56 one and two bedroom apartments, for a mix of private and affordable housing. Once completed the development will have an end value of approximately £85 million.

BAM has announced in November 2011 that it was reconsidering the position of Tebodin within the Group. Following this announcement, BAM decided to look for an external partner that can support Tebodin's development opportunities. With this transaction BAM is taking further steps in line with the

BAM Clough JV receives letter of intent for design & construct contract in Australia

The scope of work involves the design and construction of the Ichthys LNG Project Module Offloading Facility (MOF) near Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The MOF will be constructed as part of the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG facility, being developed in Darwin. It is a key facility that will be used to offload modules being supplied under other subcontracts to assemble the LNG liquefaction plant.

Under this letter of intent, expenditure is limited for BAM Clough to the commencement of engineering, procurement and planning work for the project. Construction activities for the MOF are scheduled to commence in early 2013 with MOF project completion anticipated in early 2014. At peak the MOF project will employ a workforce of 130.

Wind turbine to boost nuclear industry

Sheffield, 6 February 2012 - The UK nuclear industry is set to receive a major helping hand from wind power. BAM Construction is weeks away from completion of a major development on the Advanced Manufacturing Park for the University of Sheffield. The scheme includes the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, which opened in October, and the Knowledge Transfer Centre. The Nuclear AMRC will be used to develop techniques to allow UK manufacturers to provide key components for nuclear power stations around the world.

Combining the experience of industry with the skills of universities, the advanced facility is being powered by the first Powerwind 56 turbine installed in the UK. BAM recently installed the German-manufactured wind turbine outside the research centre in Rotherham.

Standing 99 metres tall, it has generated 170 Mwh since it first started production on 6 December 2011, equivalent to the annual electricity use of 50 households. The turbine will generate electricity to power the facility, and feed any excess to the National Grid.

BAM Nuttall has won two separate contracts to deliver €90 million (£76 million) of improvement work in the North Park and South Park areas of the site.

The construction work is expected to take up to 18 months, although the Legacy Company has structured its phasing so that sections of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be opened to the public from summer 2013.

The RCF was originally launched at €700 million. After the announcement by BAM on 22 December 2011 of the successful disposal of its 21.5% stake in dredging company Van Oord for approximately €200 million, the RCF was reduced to €500 million. The syndication of both facilities nevertheless closed over-subscribed from the original launch amounts.

The project value is approximately €24 million. The project will be completed by BAM Deutschland in August 2013.

The project involves a new office and conference building and a technical building with a total floor surface area of about 17,000 m². The three-storey office and conference building will consist of three circular sections (A, B and C) which will be designed to look as if they float. The building will feature a unique ‘zigzag’ glass façade system, reflecting the existing headquarters and the landscape as a fractured image. The project has been designed by the Auer + Weber + Assoziierte firm of architects in Munich.

The project is part of a large-scale modernisation of the waste water system of the Emschergenossenschaft water management association.

The project involves the construction of a pipeline between Dortmund and Bottrop, which is intended to carry wastewater to a water purification plant near Bottrop. The underground pipeline, which will be built in the form of a tunnel, will vary in diameter from 1.6 to 2.8 metres and will run parallel to the River Emscher.

The work will start next spring and is expected to take five years.

Now the arrival of the two cranes will enable the contractor to put up the reinforced concrete frame. The frame will be built over the winter months, allowing cladding work to commence next March.

The energy consumption per tonne of product will be improved by nearly 30 percent.

Tebodin will perform the project with a project team of around 70 staff from the Tebodin offices in Hengelo, the Netherlands and Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The consortium of Dutch and German engineers and specialists in the EPCm project team was one of the reasons for AkzoNobel awarding the project to Tebodin.

The design of the new Premier Inn hotel will showcase contemporary architecture, with the building appearing as two intersecting masses. The façade will be carried out with glass and aluminium cladding.

Bunnik, The Netherlands, 22 December 2011 – Royal BAM Group has sold its 21.5% interest in dredging company Van Oord, with effect from today, to a consortium formed by the Belgian investment company Cobepa and the Dutch investment companies Janivo, Breedinvest and Rinkelberg. The purchase price is €200 million. As a consequence of guarantees in the sale agreement, BAM is taking a provision in the year ending 31 December 2011 to cover the maximum risk of €15 million. The provision relates to future dividends payable by Van Oord over the next five years. Net of this provision, the transaction has no material impact on BAM’s previously announced forecast that the Group will make a net profit of €120 million for the financial year 2011.

The total amount in cash to be received by BAM in the financial year 2011 in connection with the interest in Van Oord is €238 million. This amount comprises the purchase price of €200 million and two dividend payments received earlier in the year; an ordinary dividend of €16 million and a special dividend of €22 million.

BAM will build a large timber frame on the second floor of the existing building to increase the capacity of the home from 33 to 44 beds. The existing external walls will be retained and internally clad with insulated plasterboard, while new composite aluminium/timber windows will add to the warmer, more homely environment.

The four-storey, 7,300 sq m building will be designed around a central atrium to maximise the use of natural ventilation and light. The building will utilise the thermal mass of the concrete frame and will include a biomass boiler, thermal water heating and photovoltaic panels. BAM will also use sustainable urban drainage systems and rainwater harvesting to further boost the building’s environmental performance. It is proposed that work starts on site in February 2012 and be completed in summer 2013.

Hemel Hempstead, 29 November 2011 - BAM Construction and architects Aedas have secured a contract to design and build Network Rail's new flagship rail operating centre (ROC) and training facility in York. The ROC, located on the Engineers Triangle, will be one of just 14 proposed centres across Great Britain and will eventually coordinate and control all rail operations on the London North Eastern route. The training centre will consolidate services already provided at several different locations into a single, purpose-built facility.

The project marks a further collaboration between BAM, Aedas and Network Rail. The contractor is already at work on a key national centre in Milton Keynes, which opens in summer 2012 and will provide state-of-the-art facilities for more than 3,000 people, and is redeveloping the retail units at Waterloo Station. Camberley, November 2011 - Essential safety works on the northbound Blackwall Tunnel have been completed over a year ahead of schedule. As a result overnight closures will end and motorists will regain full use of the tunnel from 11 November.

The improvements bring the 114 year old tunnel up to date with the latest safety standards, and are designed to significantly reduce the number of incidents which force the tunnel to close. They include the installation and commissioning of new upgraded ventilation fans in the tunnel’s four shafts, improved incident detection as well as installation of new lighting, upgraded CCTV and new communication systems throughout the tunnel.

The building will be situated in a prominent location on the Spree (Kapelle-Ufer) to the east of the Hauptbahnhof, opposite the Reichstag and the offices of the German Chancellor. He did this alongside Gérard Mestrallet, Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ; Christophe Cros, who is responsible for the environment-related activities of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT and is CEO of SITA France; and Adriaan Visser, CEO of SITA Benelux and Germany. The ReEnergy plant is one of the most modern waste-to-energy plants in Europe.

ReEnergy leads the way when it comes to environmental performance. With a treatment capacity of 291,000 tons a year, the plant can process municipal and commercial waste and generate 275,000 MWh of electricity annually, supplying 70,000 households. ReEnergy also supplies heat to greenhouses nearby, saving approximately 3.5 million m³ of natural gas. The waste-to-energy plant required an investment of €200 million.

The contract is for section 4 of the Tanzam Highway. The joint venture is currently completing the renovation of a 150-kilometre stretch between Iyovia and Iringa. Section 4 is the stretch between Iringa and Mafenga and has a length of 68 kilometres. The client is the Tanzania National Roads Agency, Tanroads, and the project is supported by the Danish government. This variation order will take 22 months to complete.

The project – located on Thornton Road – takes turnover by design and build contractor BAM Construction to over £50 million from its last seven projects built in Bradford. These include three schools, a university facility, Bradford Academy, a college and two community buildings.

The 3,160 square-metre Culture Fusion building took BAM just one year to build, and currently it is estimated will generate a low carbon footprint of less than nine tonnes of CO2 per million pounds in value, well below the company’s already demanding target of 14 tonnes.

Work has been undertaken to refurbish and extend a former warehouse building including new mechanical and electrical installations, and replacing existing floors and the roof.

BAM is to start work next month on the main feature of a £3.2 million expansion of the North-East’s largest airport. The project will see a new three-storey extension to the terminal, creating an extra 5,242-sq ft of security search accommodation. When fully operational it will provide up to ten lanes to screen hand luggage prior to entry to the departure lounge, an increase of five lanes. The development is being carried out in phases to ensure minimum disruption to airport users and is scheduled for completion by the spring. It will be equipped with the latest security screening technology to ensure passengers pass though swiftly and comfortably.

The contract period is 22 months. BAM Decorient's client is PT ThyssenKrupp Polysius Indonesia, as contractor responsible for the construction and erection of the new clinker and cement factory for Holcim, Indonesia's third largest cement maker.

BAM will construct the almost ninety reinforced concrete structures that are required for the plant. These vary from large support constructions (up to 120 metres high) for the process equipment to electrical stations and concrete silos. The largest of the six silos will be 80 metres high. BAM Decorient intends to recruit as much as possible local workforce from Tuban and the surrounding area to execute the works.

Hemel Hempstead / Camberley, 18 August 2011 - BAM in the UK has been accredited by CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme). The accreditation covers BAM Construct UK and the civil engineering company, BAM Nuttall. BAM in the UK has been accredited by CEMARS (Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme). The accreditation covers BAM Construct UK and the civil engineering company, BAM Nuttall.

As part of the accreditation, the two companies have developed their carbon emissions measurement process, their inventory (for the carbon footprint) and established carbon management plans. CEMARS requires that companies have five year plans updated each year setting out how they intend to hit their targets.

The company – which has offices in Gateshead – will transform the college’s sixth form centre into a contemporary, 12,100 square-metre high specification learning facility that will enhance the existing campus at Rye Hill.

Facilities in the new building will include science laboratories, lecture theatre, IT suites and fine arts. External works will also be undertaken to complement that area. The project is due to start on site on 22 August and last for 20 months.

Construction director Andrew Warwick said BAM intends to use as many local suppliers as possible on the college job and is in talks with bosses at the nearby National Construction Academy over plans to create ‘as many work experience places as practical’ on the scheme and using apprentices.

Camberley, 29 July 2011 – BAM Nuttall has been awarded a Green Apple Environment Award, in the national campaign to find Britain's greenest companies, councils and communities, for the work carried out on Cambridgeshire Guided Busway.

They competed against more than 500 other nominations and will be presented with their Green Apple Award at a presentation ceremony in the House of Commons on 14 November 2011. As a result of this success they have been invited to have their winning paper published in The Green Book, the leading international work of reference on environmental best practice, so that others around the world can follow their example and learn from their experience.

They will also be considered to represent their country in the European Business Awards for the Environment.

Hemel Hempstead, 26 July 2011 - Imperial Tobacco has appointed BAM Construction to deliver the company’s new corporate headquarters based in Bristol.

The multi-million pound project will see BAM deliver a bespoke four storey concrete framed building with a zinc-clad façade, and extensive glazing and curtain walling.

Sited on Winterstoke Road on land owned by Imperial Tobacco, adjacent to an operational rail line and close to other businesses, the new building will replace existing factory units, and will achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. It will utilise a wide range of natural materials across its 83,000 plus square feet.

BAM Civil signs contract for N22 Tralee Bypass

Kill, County Kildare, Ireland, 13 July 2011 – Mayor of Kerry, Councillor Pat Leahy, and Brian Cunningham, BAM Civil director, have signed the contract for the N22 Tralee Bypass Road Improvement Scheme on Friday 24 June. This €97 million bypass connecting the N21, N22, N69 and N70 involves the construction of 8 km of dual carriageway to the East of Tralee and 5.5 km single carriageway link road from the bypass to the N22 Killarney Road.

Works commenced on 15 June with a construction programme of 21 months. Once complete the scheme will greatly relieve traffic congestion in Tralee town and enhance the road transport corridor between Tralee and Killarney. Theo Cullinane, CEO BAM Contractors Ltd, said: ‘This project is a much needed boost for the Tralee community.’

(Press release BAM Nuttall and Morgan Sindall:) 13 July 2011 - Joint venture bmJV, consisting of BAM Nuttall and UK construction and infrastructure company Morgan Sindall, has been awarded a £136 million construction contract to upgrade the M62 to alleviate traffic congestion.

The project is part of the Highways Agency’s four-year, up to £2 billion National Major Projects Framework to deliver managed motorways across England. The framework will deliver schemes to make better use of the existing network and improve journey times and reliability for road traffic.

The M62 works will take place between junctions 25 and 30. It will include utilising sections of the hard shoulder, with resurfacing and drainage improvements, for use as either permanent or peak period additional running lanes.
